DESCRIPTION: THOMAS CRAPPER (1837-1910) Developer of the Controlled Flow Cistern 12 THORNSETT ROAD, LONDON SE20 Though frequently credited with the invention of the flushing toilet, this is not the case. What he did do was to improve the workings of the water closet with such things as the floating ballcock and can be thought of as the godfather of our modern bathroom fittings superstores. Perhaps his greatest achievement was to install 30 lavatories into Sandringham House in Norfolk for the future King Edward VII therefore becoming a hero to royalists everywhere by keeping the monarchy on the throne.
