GEORGE ORWELL (1903-1950) Author and Essayist
22 ST. PORTOBELLO ROAD, LONDON W11
"People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word." (1984)
The above is of course is no longer the case. You are still removed by Big Brother at night, but now every record of everything you have ever done is printed by the Thought Police in glossy magazines and newspapers for six months. Only when the next series starts is your one-time existence forgotten.
