DESCRIPTION: WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART (1756-1791) Composer 180 EBURY STREET, LONDON SW1 “A fellow of mediocre talent will remain a mediocrity, whether he travels or not; but one of superior talent (which without impiety I cannot deny that I possess) will go to seed if he always remains in the same place.” (Wolfgang Mozart) In this house at the age of nine Mozart wrote his first symphony, coincidentally called “Symphony Number 1”. Mozart seems to have developed into the Sid Vicious of his day with a penchant for filth, especially in the letters he wrote to his cousin Maria. His favourite words seem to have been the rather mild “Muck” and “Piddle” but he shows his true colours with the scatological canon entitled “Leck mich im Arsch” the politest translation of which is “Kiss My Arse”. An item strangely absent from The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s album “Mozart’s Finest Pieces”
