DESCRIPTION: IAN FLEMING (1908-1964) Author 22 EBURY STREET, LONDON SW1 "I wanted the simplest, dullest, plainest-sounding name I could find, James Bond was much better than something more interesting like Peregrine Maltravers.." (Ian Fleming) The screenplay for the 1967 movie version of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novel “You Only Live Twice” was written by famed children’s author Roald Dahl, who coincidently wrote the screenplay for Fleming’s children’s classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 1968. These enormous successes went sadly awry when Dahl decided to write an original screenplay based on the spy classic and his own children’s work called “James Bond and the Giant Peach”.
