HOWARD CARTER (1874-1939) Egyptologist
19 COLLINGHAM GARDEN, LONDON SW5
the interior of the chamber gradually loomed before me, with its strange and wonderful medley of extraordinary and beautiful objects heaped upon one another."
(Howard Carter)
The Curse of Tutankhamun has become legendary since Carters discovery of the tomb in 1922. Legends have grown up around the death of his patron, Lord Carnarvon who died from an infected insect bite a few months after the tomb was opened and by 1929 eleven people connected with the excavation met untimely deaths.
People have scoffed about the curse, however whilst out taking this photograph, my car received a parking ticket, was then clamped and a pigeon relieved itself all over the windscreen as I was awaiting the parking warden to set it free.
My case rests.
