DESCRIPTION: CAPTAIN BLIGH (1754-1817) Commander of The Bounty 100 LAMBETH ROAD, LONDON SE1 “…on the 28th April at day light in the morning Christian having the morning watch. He with several others came into my Cabin while I was a Sleep, and seizing me, holding naked Bayonets at my Breast, tied my Hands behind my back, and threatened instant destruction if I uttered a word” (Letter from William Bligh to his wife) Though ending his days as a Vice Admiral, being Governor of New South Wales and being praised by Lord Nelson, William Bligh will forever be known for the Mutiny on The Bounty led by Fletcher Christian. He sailed with Captain Cook to the Sandwich Isles where Cook died, and then became infamous whilst on a mission to transport Breadfruit… an early victim of wheat intolerance?
